art + technology // design + code

Welcome to the current web retreat of Jesse Kriss!

I design and implement interactions, interfaces, information visualizations, graphics, and performance systems, among other things.

I've always been fascinated by the intersection of art and technology. It's an interdisciplinary world where creativity, code, and design all come together.

If you'd like to check out some of my recent projects, take a look at the portfolio page. If you have an idea for a new project, drop me a line.

recent news

Monomic 9 May 2006

I've put together a Processing library for the astonishingly cool monome 40h. Check out Monomic.

Visual Scratch 14 Apr 2006

Check out my latest project: Visual Scratch.

Veronica Magazine 17 Sept 2005

Thanks to Marc at United Recordings, I have a scan of a recent article about my History of Sampling project. Marc tells me that Veronica Magazine is published by the largest TV station in Holland. This explains why nearly 40% of my recent site traffic came from the Netherlands.

Dutch is the coolest. Here's what babelfish thinks: translation.

MOAD 23 June 2005 Some people at the Museum of the African Diaspora liked my History of Sampling visualization. Check out their Art of the Sample page, including an interview with yours truly. [Sorry, links are dead now.]

IBM Research 23 June 2005 Lots of news. I'm working in the Collaborative User Experience group at IBM Research in Cambridge, MA. My picture and bio will be on this page soon. [This news is a bit out of date, now -- I started in early May.] I work primarily with Martin Wattenberg on information visualization.

eJamming Product Announcement 20 Jan 2005 The eJamming folks ran demos of their first software product at NAMM. It's pretty amazing — it allows musicians to play music together from remote locations. I designed the interface.
